Last week I had the great pleasure to photograph Maja and Martin’s only 3 weeks old newborn son, a very active baby boy who really wanted to experience it all. Only after 2 hours of shooting he fell asleep so that we could get some pictures where he was sleeping.
The photo shoot took place on location in their living room. It was a very cloudy day, so we needed some artificial light. In newborn photography, I love to use my 150cm octa softbox. It provides some stunning soft and flat light.
I also had to use some very simple setups. This was one of the photo shoots where I was going to arrive by train and it was actually more of a challenge than I had anticipated. Normally I can pack the trunk of the car full with all sorts of equipment and baby props. This time everything had to fit into a suitcase.
A basket, some wool and fur rugs, cheesecloth, and a nappy cover was all the baby props I could take with me.
Besides baby props I of course had my Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-70mm f / 2.8, Nikkor 85mm f / 1.8, 300W strobe light, 150cm octa softbox and a light stand.
